Education
Eerikkilä Sports Institute is one of the 11 Finnish National Sports Institutes that organize vocational education in sports. Our speciality is to educate nature and wilderness guides for different kinds of outdoor tours and recreation in all seasons.
Vocational education for adults
Nature and wilderness guide
(49 credits / 12 months)
- specialized studies in nature and wilderness guiding and outdoor recreation
- aim: to train the students to take the Nature and Wilderness Guide’s Professional examination at the end of studies
- consists of courses in Eerikkilä and its surroundings, treks, trips and excursions throughout the country, distance learning, projects and work placement periods
- work placement period abroad is also possible during the education

Physical Education for Adults
(30 credits / 12 months)
Prepatory training for competence-based examination.
Those who have completed the qualification are able to plan, carry out and evaluate adult physical education and take into account the demands of employee´s and aged people´s physical exercise.
Consists of distance learning and 10 intensive modules in Eerikkilä alternating with work.
Further qualification in coaching
(30 credits)
Prepatory training for competence-based examination.
Adapted Physical Education Instructor
(20 credits)
- updated career training for social and health care workers such as practical nurses, nurses, etc.
Basic courses of physical education
Basic courses of physical education instructor
(19 credits)
- aim: to give the students basic skills and knowledge of the most common sports emphasizing on the ability to instruct these sports. The courses are intended for those who want to continue to the vocational studies of physical education or are instructing or coaching in sport clubs.
- Consists of about 40 different sports and five instructor courses of the national sports associations (e.g. “All Stars” – kid’s soccer coaching course)
- A special course for football players with some lower level coach training is also in our curriculum
Specialized course of physical and adapted physical education for practical nurse students
(15 credits)
- in co-operation with Tavastia Further Education College (in Hämeenlinna)
- students will carry out the basic examination in social and health care area (vocational education) and they specialize in physical education and adapted physical education during a 4 month period in Eerikkilä Sports Institute
Coach training
We organise in cooperation with the Finnish Football Association and Finnish Floorball association coach training courses.
